Sorrento Style Marquetry Inlaid Wood Box

A rectangular wooden box featuring intricate marquetry inlay in a scrolling floral and acanthus leaf motif. Attributed to Sorrento, Italy, the piece is crafted from dark wood veneer with contrasting light wood inlays. The sides are accented with horizontal stringing. Measures 5 x 1.5 x 3.5. Condition: Notable 5" crack across the lid as shown; some veneer chipping and separation at the back edge and corners.
