VTG Japanese Paper Mache Festival Horse, c. 1950s

Vintage Japanese paper mache festival horse, c. 1950-1960. Hand-painted figure featuring elaborate textile trappings including orange silk fringe, brocade saddle cloths, and red tassels. Constructed with a paper mache body, wire-reinforced legs, and natural hair mane and tail. Unmarked. 9" tall. Minor wear to paper surface and some fraying to textiles consistent with age. One ear is missing.
